By using AquaKay, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

At AquaKay, hereinafter referred to as “the Application”, “the App”, or “we”, we take the privacy of our users and the security of their data very seriously.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use our mobile application available through the Apple App Store.

1. Information We Collect

AquaKay collects information to provide cloud synchronization, biological aquarium tracking, and care reminder management.

A. Registration and Authentication Information — Optional

If you choose to use cloud synchronization and sign-in features, we may collect:

  • Third-party credentials: your email address, display name, and unique user identifier securely provided through Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In.
  • Account identifier: an internal identifier generated by our authentication service, Firebase Authentication.

B. Aquarium and Biological Data

To provide the core features of the Application, we store the information you voluntarily enter:

  • Aquarium profiles: name, volume in liters or gallons, freshwater or saltwater type, and creation date.
  • Fish catalog: names of the species in your aquarium, including custom exotic species profiles and biological notes.
  • Water parameters: historical measurements of temperature, pH, nitrates, and ammonia.
  • Care reminders: feeding tasks, water changes, and water parameter tests.
  • Progress photos: images you take and add to maintain a visual record of your ecosystem.

C. Subscriptions and Payments

  • AquaKay offers a Premium subscription model through in-app purchases processed natively using Apple StoreKit.
  • We do not collect or store payment information, credit card numbers, or billing information.
  • All billing and payment processing is handled exclusively through the user's Apple App Store account, subject to Apple's terms and policies.

2. How We Use Information

We use your information solely for the following purposes:

  • Providing Application features: calculating safe parameter ranges, generating species compatibility alerts, and suggesting care routines.
  • Cross-device synchronization: backing up your aquariums and synchronizing your information in real time through Cloud Firestore, allowing you to access it from any compatible device on which you sign in.
  • Improving the service: analyzing internal errors, crashes, and performance telemetry anonymously.

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or third parties unrelated to the technical operation of the service.

3. Data Storage and Security

  • Local storage: your aquarium data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData technology.
  • Cloud storage: if you sign in, your information is transmitted in encrypted form and stored using Google Cloud infrastructure and Firebase Firestore.
  • Security measures: we apply industry-standard security protocols to protect data during transfer and storage, including SSL/TLS encryption in transit and encryption at rest.

4. User Control and Data Deletion

In accordance with Apple's App Store Review Guidelines, we guarantee your right to delete your information.

  • In-app deletion: you may permanently delete your account and all associated information at any time from the Application's Settings screen: Settings → Delete Account.

Effects of Deletion

When you select “Delete Account” and confirm the action:

  1. All aquarium records, fish records, logs, and photographs will be immediately and permanently deleted from the cloud servers.
  2. Your user profile will be deleted from our authentication system, Firebase Authentication.
  3. We will not retain backup copies of your biological data after it has been deleted.
